Chapter 2 : The Estate

Edward did not return with Leonard and disappeared. Leonard, dressed in a white suit and carrying a small suitcase, was taken to the Harkness Family''s villa by the driver and secretary.

Leonard felt a bit disappointed. He had hoped to see the second young master again. But his long-standing endurance of loneliness quickly helped him rein in his emotions.

After all, he couldn''t expect someone he hadn''t spoken to before marriage to be very passionate about him. At least Master Edward was gentle, Leonard was certain that the new life he was about to start would be better than life in the court.

"Master Edward, do you usually live here?"

The Harkness Family''s villas were never small, and the place Leonard was taken to was an estate in the suburbs. After entering the gate, it took a few more minutes by car to reach the main building.

The secretary nodded and turned to leave after sending him to the door. Leonard still held him back.

"May I ask if Master Edward... will he come back tonight?"

He asked with a hint of timidity, afraid of overstepping. Even though the Ascend Group was the true ruler behind this country, no prince or princess who married into it was as humble as he was.

"The second young master instructed to bring you here."

Leaving this sentence behind, the secretary and the car left. Leonard stood behind the closed door for a long time, and the passing servants acted as if he didn''t exist.

He bit his lip, a feeling he was all too familiar with, as if he had returned to the court in an instant. Sometimes Leonard couldn''t tell which was more unbearable, being pointed at and called a jinx, or being deliberately ignored.

Finally, a butler who claimed to be named Zhao came and led him up a spiral staircase, walked a long way, and into a bedroom to rest.

"Thank you."

A little kindness could make Leonard grateful. He took off his formal wear, folded it neatly, and put it in the wardrobe along with the veil.

Leonard changed into pajamas, clutched the handkerchief he took out from the suitcase, and got into bed. In the strange, dim room, his stomach started to growl. He hadn''t eaten much at the banquet today and was feeling quite hungry.

He couldn''t trouble anyone at this hour, nor did he know who to call. Opening the door a crack, he looked at the corridor illuminated by the night light, feeling that the light was cold and dark, and silently lay back on the bed.

...He endured the whole night, and after going downstairs at dawn, he finally had breakfast. Good things seemed to follow one after another, as a commotion sounded outside the dining room, Mr. Harkness had returned.

Leonard quickly wiped his mouth, his heart beating a little faster, and stood up to greet him. He wanted to talk to him, even if Master Edward''s life was busy, seeing him once a day would be good.

Edward''s eyes were bloodshot, and his hangover caused him throbbing headaches. Seeing a thin, small figure in his home, it took him a while to realize who it was.

The source of his recent irritation.

"Edward, Master Edward."

Leonard called timidly, his upbringing in a precarious situation made him extremely sensitive to the atmosphere. The second young master seemed to be in a bad mood at the moment.

Edward waved his hand, sat on the chair brought by the servant, sipping hangover soup, and coldly scrutinized the jinx thrown out by the royal family.

He was truly unlucky, unable to marry the one he loved, and forced to accept this piece of trash. Ordinary people thought it was a good match, but the Harkness Family knew the royal family''s affairs best. A jinx would bring misfortune to those around them, wouldn''t that mean he would bring misfortune to his husband once he entered the door?

Even so, the old man agreed, trying every means to extend his last breath. Edward felt he was losing his place in the family.

His gaze swept over Leonard''s tender neck, he really wanted to strangle him and throw him out. The Harkness Family killing a few lowly people was nothing, but this jinx in front of him couldn''t be touched.

"Take off your clothes, let me see where a man gives birth."
